Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846. John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.
Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860. John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.
Both were particularly concerned with civil rights. Both wives lost a child while living in the White House.
Both Presidents were shot on a Friday. Both Presidents were shot in the head.
Now it gets really weird.
Lincoln’s secretary was named Kennedy. Kennedy’s Secretary was named Lincoln.
Both were assassinated by Southerners. Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.
Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808. Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.
John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839. Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.
Both assassins were known by their three names. Both names are composed of fifteen letters.
Now hang on to your seat.
Lincoln was shot at the theater named “Ford.” Kennedy was shot in a car called “Lincoln” made by “Ford.”
Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.
And here’s the “kicker”:
A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland. A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.
Lincoln was shot in a theater and the assassin ran to a warehouse… Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and the assassin ran to a theater…
Time flows like a river And history repeats…
You can do this with any two people in the world and any two points in time, and you’ll find enough weird opposite similarities to make a paragraph of comparisons like this. Just that we don’t have enough biographical data on Ashurbanipal II to compare to Lincoln.
Though I suppose we wouldn’t get many name things, due to English/Assyrian linguistic differences.
Just a fair warning out there for all you Pokemon X and Y users out there! There has been confirmation of a glitch that happens when you save in Lumiose City, where if you save, there is a chance for your game to freeze up and the only fix right now is to reset your entire game.
Put this together in anticipation for Banned Books Week! All of these quotes are from actual challenges I found online.
SPEAK GLORIFIES PREMARITAL SEX DID YOU EVEN READ THE BOOK OH MY GOD I WILL PUNCH MY WAY THROUGH A MOUNTAIN
TO KILL A FUCKING MOCKINGBIRD ARE YOU SHITTING ME?!?!
This makes me upset.
Anne Frank, seriously? This puts you in the shitstorm that is World War II and lets you observe what life was like for someone hiding in the midst of it. I may not have enjoyed *having* to read it back in elementary, but it does not deserve to be banned. wtf srsly.
Oh no, it makes kids think and learn! We can’t have independent people come as a result of school! Baaan them, quickly!
I am curious where these are all banned? I am assuming it’s not a blanket ban on all of them everywhere (given I had to read To Kill a Mockingbird and The Great Gatsby sophomore and junior years). Like, are they statewide bans? Countywide? Which ones are banned where?
